1. How do I find my polling place or determine my election district?

If you are unsure of your precinct location, call the Voter Registration Office at 434-476-3322 or view the Voting Precincts List (PDF).

2. How do I know which election district I live in?

If you are unsure of your election district, view our election district map to enter your address and determine your election district.

3. Who is eligible to work as an officer of election?

Registered voters of Virginia who do not hold an elected office or are not employees of an elected official are eligible to work as an officer of the election.

4. What would duties be as an officer of election?

You will need to arrive at the polling place by 5:15 am on election day as well as:

• Help prepare the polling place for voting and set up voting equipment.
• Help check in voters.
• Help close the polling place, certify the number of votes casted, and complete paperwork.
• Stay at precinct until all work is completed (usually between 8:30 and 9 pm)

5. Will you be trained to fulfill my duties as an officer of election?

Yes, a training seminar is held on a designated evening before each election.

6. In which precinct would you work?

You will be assigned to work at the precinct in which you vote, if possible. Occasionally, you could be asked to work at a nearby polling place.
